CSM Level 250

CSM Level 250

The CSM Level 250 is a two-day certification class for instructors. It is specifically tailored for industry professionals, including range owners/managers and range employees/guides.

Course Content

The CSM Level 250 class uses the Eight Coaching Skills manual to provide a sound understanding and great reference material for all those wishing to develop coaching plans.  A great deal of class emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of gun fitting, choke selection as well as point of aim (POA) and point of impact (POI) to verify that each gun is performing as expected with no surprises. The first steps in coaching begin with appropriate target selection.  Discovering individual perception combined with a positive “sight picture” baseline provides all students the opportunity to learn in context to how they perceive what they are doing. With sound, proven student-centered learning principles all participants learn to begin to define and develop sound fundamentals.  Course materials are provided and there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to practice shooting sporting targets throughout the day.

The CSM Philosophy

Great coaching and shooting rely on sound principles of the best learning practices. Three pillars of learning are Discover, Define and Develop

Discover: Discover the basic skills required to shoot a moving target and connect the things that lend themselves to easy repetition and assimilation by the mind. We promote emphasis on the learning content (fundamentals) with discovering and arranging a body of knowledge.

Define: Asking “why” will help define the steps required for continuing success. Keeping notes along the way, will provide a reliable guide for thinking without contradiction, the art of non-contradictory identification. The first steps of shooting success are based on individual perception, getting to know yourself and how to understand your unique temporal, spatial world and apply it in a way that is useful and meaningful to you.

Develop: Developing skill sets takes time and effort over many years. Over time you will develop the ability to apply a body of knowledge and understanding to problem solving. Learning to think critically and creatively instead of becoming programmed to simply react and hope for the best, will help you develop into the best you can be. This approach will help and prevent many problems from developing in the first place.
